Accessibility Statement

Property Accessibility

Quincy Feather Bed Inn is a historic property that was built in 1893. We have 5 upstairs rooms and 2 ground floor cottages. We have strived to maintain its historic appearance both inside and out. Because of the layout and structure of the Inn, it is not feasible to make the upstairs rooms mobility accessible for those requiring wheelchairs, given the  features of the original architecture. There is no elevator. All rooms are accessible by outdoor stairs with railings.

The Courthouse Cottage is our ADA accessible unit, with handicap parking adjacent to the cottage.  The cottage is located adjacent to the Inn, on Jackson Street. It features wide accessible doors with flipper door handles. It features wide spacing surrounding the King size bed to accommodate a wheelchair on each side. The bathroom has hand rails in the tub/shower unit and hand rails surrounding the toilet. There is a chair available to place in the tub.

The Hideaway Cottage is located behind the Inn and has a brick pathway that is not level, and 2 steps up to the door. This cottage is not suitable for wheelchair access.

There are no common areas on the property. The downstairs and porch area of the Inn is private, owner occupied, and not for public usage.

There is a gravel parking lot behind the Inn that will accommodate up to 5 vehicles. Street parking is also available at no cost. The Courthouse Cottage has a driveway adjacent to it that is our handicap van accessible parking area. All parking is for registered guests only.

Measures to support accessibility

Quincy Feather Bed Inn is committed to making it's lodging and website usable by all people.  It takes the following measures to ensure accessibility:

  • Include accessibility as part of our mission statement.

  • Include accessibility throughout our internal policies.

  • Integrate accessibility into our procurement practices.

  • Provide continual accessibility training for our staff.

  • Assign clear accessibility goals and responsibilities.

  • Employ formal accessibility quality assurance methods.

Conformance status

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Quincy Feather Bed Inn is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.
